The Beauty of Baked Eggs
I love eggs. Not just because they’re delicious (which they absolutely are), but because they’re one of the most versatile ingredients out there. Fry them, poach them, scramble them, boil them, steam them — you get the idea, eggs do it all. But one of the most underrated ways to prepare them is by baking them. Baked eggs transcend all other types of eggs simply because they are so easy to make a recipe is completely unnecessary. Even better, skill and technique go out the window here – you just don’t need them.
Baked eggs are a game-changer. They require zero effort, no fancy techniques, and barely any time. They’re the ultimate lazy-day meal. You don’t even need a recipe — just a few ingredients, a heat source, and a little patience. Plus, did I mention how cheap it is. Prep them ahead of time, leave it in the fridge for up to 12 hours, and pop them in the oven (or air fryer) whenever hunger strikes. This is a breakfast lunch, and dinner recipe all in one. Perfect for uni students, time stragglers, busy mornings, late-night snacks, or even a quick dinner.
Want to take it up a notch?
Now say your budget and timing is less restricted, here’s how to bring your Baked Eggs to the next level.
Chop some bacon and garlic and saute in a pan with a little olive oil till golden.
Before adding the cheese, liberally dollop teaspoons of relish atop your eggs, then evenly disperse the sauteed garlic and bacon.
Add your grated cheese before sprinkling on some breadcrumbs, and a dusting of paprika.
Again, bake as usual.
The result? A rich, savory, and deeply satisfying dish that’s still effortless to make.
Baked eggs are proof that sometimes, the simplest things really are the best.
